Kia Stinger is a mid-range car in a fastback body, which is stylized as a classic sedan. So far, only one generation of this model has been produced, but it was also quite popular on the Polish market. The quality and advantages of this car can be evidenced, for example, by the fact that it keeps high prices in the secondary market all the time. The car is distinguished by its sporty design and work on it was carried out, among others, on the iconic Nürburgring Nordschleife. This is a great combination of comfort and dynamics. Kia Stinger (2017-2023)

Although the Stinger is a successful car, it was produced for only 6 years and lived only one generation. The base was the floor plate of the Genesis G70 car - Hyundai M2. Genesis, on the other hand, is a luxury brand of the Hyundai concern, to which Kia belongs. It was preceded by the 2011 Kia GT concept and the 2014 Kia GT4 Stinger, which shows how long the design work took and thus how refined the model is. Former BMW M Vice President Albert Biermann took part in its development, among others.

The suspension consists of classic McPherson columns in the front and a multi-link rear suspension. Optionally, it was possible to order a version with shock absorbers with variable characteristics (Dynamic Stability Damper Control). The Kia Stinger GT, GT1 and GT2 had efficient Brembo sports brakes.

For the 2022 model year, the car has undergone a facelift. There were new LED headlights, a full-size LED strip at the rear, new 19" wheel designs for the GT version, a refreshed grill, a more aggressive front bumper. The 8" screen has been replaced by 10.25", the quality of materials and finishes have been improved, ambient lighting and wireless connectivity of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have been added. In higher versions, a digital instrument cluster was introduced.

Kia Stinger - technical specifications

In the American version of the Kia Stinger model, the diesel engine was not offered at all, and customers could choose one of three gasoline engines:

• 2.0 Theta III T-GDI - power 255 hp, RWD drive (optional AWD);
• 2.5 Smartstream T-GDI - power 300 hp, RWD drive (optional AWD);
• 3.3 Lambda II T-GDI V6 - 370 hp in 2018-2021 and 368 hp in 2022-2023, RWD drive (optional AWD).

In the Kia Stinger, the combustion varies on average from 9.4 l per 100 km for the 2.0 engine to 11.8 l per 100 km for the 3.3 engine in the RWD version. For AWD drive, it is from 9.8 to 12.4 l per 100 km, respectively. So it can be considered that the Stinger is quite economical for what it offers. In the weakest version, the sprint to a hundred takes about 6 s.

The car was offered in several trim levels, which underwent minor changes on the occasion of the introduction of the facelift:

• Kia Stinger Base (2018-2021)/Kia Stinger Premium (2022-2023) - offered with 2.0 and 2.5 engines, has, among others, LED lighting, infotainment system with 8" (until 2021) or 10.25" (from 2022) screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (wireless from 2022), leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless access, rear view camera, parking sensors, driving modes (Eco, Comfort, Sport, Smart, Custom), frontal collision warning systems, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assistant and driver fatigue warning;
• Kia Stinger GT - 3.3 V6 engine, equipment as in Base/Premium and additionally Brembo brakes with red calipers, sports-tuned suspension, limited-slip differential (RWD models), heated front seats, driver's seat electrically adjustable in 8 directions, aluminum inserts, sports steering wheel, and from 2022 also wireless phone charger, ambient lighting;
• Kia Stinger GT1 - the same equipment as in the GT and, in addition, an electric sunroof, a Harman Kardon audio system with 9 speakers, ventilated front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, blind spot monitoring systems, rear cross traffic alerts and a safe exit assistant, and from 2022 also a 360-degree camera and a highway driving assistant;
• Kia Stinger GT2 - the same equipment as in the GT2 and, in addition, Nappa leather upholstery, Harman Kardon audio with 15 speakers, head-up display (HUD), electrically adjustable steering column, electronically adjustable suspension (DSDC), collision avoidance assistant with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keeping assistant, and from 2022 also 360-degree camera and smart tailgate.

Additional equipment packages:

• Sun and Sound (until 2021) - electric sunroof, Harman Kardon audio with 9 speakers, auto-dimming rearview mirror;
• Driver Wise (until 2021) - blind spot monitoring system, rear cross traffic warning system, adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, collision avoidance assistant with pedestrian detection;
• GT-Line (from 2022) - black grill and black mirrors, leather upholstery, Harman Kardon audio system with 9 speakers, 19" wheels, wireless phone charger.

One special edition also appeared on sale - the Kia Stinger Scorpion. It was sold in 2022-2023 and had limited availability. It features 19" black wheels, tinted exteriors, carbon fiber accents in the interior, red Nappa leather upholstery and rear spoiler. The car was available in Snow White Pearl, Aurora Black and Ceramic Silver. The limitation of availability was the production of 250 pieces per month. The car was a farewell to the Stinger model and was structurally based on the GT2 version.
